Country Plank Alder Floors

Red Alder is the most underutilized species in the history of British Columbia Forestry. Once thought of as a weed species and poisoned by forestry companies, this rapidly renewable wood is an excellent choice for manufacturing sustainable wood products designed to last a century or more. Alder is a fast growing deciduous species and a natural nitrogen fixer for the soil. Alder generally grows to maturity in 15-25 years and rapidly reproduces within a year. The young Alders provide excellent ground cover for small animals, birds and deer.

Alder is currently used for a variety of specialty interior products including furniture, cabinets, floors and doors.

Known for its character, this fast growing and semi knotty hardwood produces a fine grain with natural tan, rusty red and brown tones. Its black odd shaped knots accompany figured grain patterns that are normally found in expensive hardwoods. Alder has excellent finishing qualities and can be stained to compliment many design themes or finished with a clear to exhibit its natural beauty. Alder can be is used to mimic woods like American Black Cherry and Walnut.

Country Plank Alder Floors are produced in 3 ¼”, 5 ¼" and 7" wide planks in random lengths to 9 feet long. Your floor comes Pre-finished with a modern European Hardwax-Oil coating by OSMO which is easy to maintain. The Pre-finished planks are available in a Traditional Smooth, Antique Distressed or Rocky Mountain Resawn Finishes and can be custom stained to suit your decor. Our Country Plank Alder Floors are a great choice for homes choosing the added character and warmth of a wide plank floor. Precision milled from 5/4” solid Alder to ¾" thick, we machine a traditional tongue and groove profile on the sides and ends of each plank for a snug fit and easy installation.

Each floor is produced individually for each customer to ensure exceptional quality and customer service from order to delivery. We hand select only mature Alder from privately owned farms and woodlots. When working with Alder, the whole tree can be worked for its maximum potential, the larger base wood cut for lumber, the smaller wood is normally processed for firewood. The branches and limbs are left on site for soil re-generation; even the sawdust can used for plant bedding or fish and meat smoking.

Let the natural beauty of a Country Plank Alder Floor help showcase your home!
